Escapecraft (short for Escapist Minecraft, and is affiliated with the other Escapecraft, we are the official host of the single player puzzle maps, in a multiplayer setting) is a multiplayer Minecraft community that began as a user group on escapistmagazine.com way back in August 2010. We've grown massively since then, into a community of our own with over 5,000 unique players.
We aim to deliver a survival experience in its purest form; players work together to gather resources and fend off hostile creatures in an ever-changing world full of surprises. Which path will you choose? Will you live alone in the wilderness, settle down in a bustling city, or even lay the foundations of the next great Escapian civilization? It's up to you.
We're also about to unveil something new and exciting; a new world featuring a deep and persistent narrative, full of quests to experience, characters to meet, and hidden lore to uncover!
Whatever you do, you'll be part of a thriving community, led by a dedicated volunteer staff of more than 20 moderators and server monkeys, as well as numerous creative folk hard at work on future projects. We take any acts of griefing, stealing, or other unpleasantness very seriously; rest assured that your creations will be safe with us.
I have joined the server in september,i joined this server because i used to be a admin at the yogscast server but because it got deleted we had to start all over again only problem was that the server is now almost never online so that sucks.So i hope other people will like escapecraft.com server.I love this server and will never leave it. :D
Nice looking world, with a well designed spawn tutorial and hub system, but as a new player, it takes ages to find a usable plot outside with the exception of PvP (of which I'm really not a subscriber). I played for nearly 2 hours without finding somewhere to build. Nice server for established players I'm sure, but if you're joining, don't expect to be getting started with your dream plot in a hurry.
Shame really, the escapistmagazine.com is awesome.
I'm sorry to hear it took you so long to find a suitable area to build. If you're ever looking for a new place to build, don't hesitate to ask someone with a Mentor rank (a dark green name). It's our job to help the new people get settled in.

We will update to 1.8, but we can't give any specific date. Basically, as soon as all the plugins are updated, we'll update.
In the mean time, you can either go to the temporary vanilla server, 'test.escapecraft.com' (note, nothing here will be saved, and there will be little to no moderation. It's mainly just to test things out).
Or, if you just wanna chat with the community, go to www.escapecraft.com/chat.
PLEASE NOTE: test.escapecraft.com is just something we've thrown up to run a vanilla 1.8 server while we test everything out on our dev server. Unfortunately, the test server will not be up for long and absolutely nothing on it is permanent or will be moved to our live server, and the server is therefore largely unmoderated for griefing. Please join us on our 1.7.3 server, and we will also be updated to our live 1.8 server once we get our bevy of plugins sorted out for the update. :)

Just a note, to avoid people asking later on. We are currently still running 1.73. This is because the plugins used by Escapecraft that keep the server enjoyable and safe from griefers, are yet to be updated.
If you've already updated, but still want to play with us, you can either head over to 'test.escapecraft.com' (note that on this server, nothing will be saved, and there will be no moderation in terms of building and destroying, etc. This is because this server is completely vanilla (no plugins) and is mainly to see how the server copes with 1.8.
If you'd rather stick with the main server, you can use MCNostalgia to legally downgrade your client until we have the plugins for 1.8.

can i ask 4 a plugin?
cause im playing on this server "derpcraft.com" it has a plugin called money or something. there is a bank. its pretty cool and i think we should add it to escapecraft. i know i ahve no control over that though :(

Dsman, if you wish to come back to Escapecraft after being banned you need to appeal on our forums at escapecraft.net under the support > appeals section.

megaman97, you cannot request an unbanning of someone from our Minecraft server here. You have to do it at our website forums under the support -> appeals section.
This is the best server I have played on. 99% of the time there is no lag and the community is great. The mods/mentors are always helping newbies and are really nice. The forums are also really great and fun. If someone asked me what is the best server, I would say escapecraft.
This server is outstanding. The unique things that I have not seen on any other server are mostly the staff. They help you make yourself at home among the community, and show you around until you have a good idea of what you are doing.
There is a wide variety of things to do on escapecraft. You choose to make yourself a home anywhere from the dangerous pvp world, to the fun and exciting survival worlds. I have encoutered enthusiastic and modern buildings throughout the server.
One thing that I find very amazing, is that there are no greifers. Sure, some servers say that they are greifer free, but when you get back online to find your house, it's not there! On this server I have not once been greifed, and i am proud to say;

I bought minecraft a year ago, i first went to multiplayer, searched for some servers, and found Escapecraft, i loved it. Now a year later i still only play on Escapecraft :)

Before I found this server I jumped from server to server all day where I was either ignored and got lost or lagged out everytime. But right when I jumped on Escapecraft the world loaded up perfectly and I got started. I wasn't sure where I should go first. It had tons of choices: Highly populated survival map, Newly formed and growing survival map, PvP, just plain creative mode, a place for new players to build, and more.
So the first thing i did was jump in the help channel and ask which world i should go to. Right away a Mod asked me what I was looking for and suggested me a World to join. When I told him I wasn't sure where that was he came directly to me without hesitation and escorted me the whole way. I was already impressed and enjoying myself and these two things only increased as I met tons of nice people and mods. I got started in a town and have been building with others to make it better n' better.
To make sure I don't ramble on too much I'll just say this is THE BEST MINECRAFT SERVER. The worlds, the people, and a Mod team who actually cares. You can't beat it.
